Magik 2016

I’ve introduced a new Tag of Factual Inaccuracy to pull together any stories, relating to Jimmy, that my fact checking has confirmed is either misleading or just plain wrong.

Enter the 2016 Canadian movie: Magik

A fantasy animation film it stars the voices of such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Matthew Goode and Jim Broadbent.

The one person it DOES NOT feature is Jimmy Carr.

I’m not sure where his name was added first but every movie database picked up the misinformation and ran with it. I’ve been trying, intermittently, for a couple of years to correct it and yet a 5-minute search this morning found the list below ALL still say that he was in it (and I didn’t deep dive into any of the many foreign language site links).

Anyway – just to be 100% clear – Jimmy did NOT lend his voice to this movie. He is NOT the voice of the character “Jacob”.

The old saying of “a lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes” is never truer than with volunteer updated databases. Databases which often copy information from each other and cite the other database website as their source, without actually knowing if it is accurate.
