Isle of Man walk outs

On August 2nd 2025 Jimmy played 2 gigs at Villa Marina, Douglas on the Isle Of Man.

Interesting Instagram post from this guy, Rich Mulholland, on walk outs, during the show (he said he thought the show was brilliant though).

I would just pick up his “audience of 1000” as I thought that venue held 1600 (tiny niggle, but I’m a stickler for detail – it’s a curse).

Otherwise, I agree, comedians need to be fearless and not just try to be popular (if they are aiming for greatness).

And I would also add that EVERY comedian gets walk outs, not just relating to how on the edge the comedy is. Peter Kay’s recent “come back” tour was quickly sold out and yet I read tons of comments (on forums and news stories) from people that said they had walked out because they felt the material was from older tours.

But, in Jimmy’s case, it’s not like there isn’t TONS of stuff online to try first. I just looked at the playlists (on his YouTube channel) and a quick scan showed literally 100s of Heckle Amnesty clips. There really is no excuse.

Finally, just to show what he thinks of walk outs, “Can I have my money back?” is below.

i’m utterly surprised. Well, except for the fact that most people at comedy shows seem to be a little drunk. so maybe they couldn’t see the joke-logic and got fed up.
my assumption is that most people at shows aren’t fans, just thought it be a nice date night; dinner, drinks, and a show. and what drunk people like is laid back observational humor. drunk people seem to hate puzzling out jokes.
i was completely sober and found the show, which i actually liked a whole lot, to somewhat mentally taxing. thank god for the ‘segments’.
was a bit physically tired, the commute to the show was a 3-4 hour mix of walking, bus, light-rail, proper train, trolly bus, but i think i would’ve still been a little taxed.
though i appreciate jim’s “puzzle-mind”, part of why i considered the show in the first place was because i was kinda into sean lock, who’s more “sitcom-brain”.
keep up the good work, brother(?) i’ll definitely pop in when you do more stuff later this month. i like to listen to his stand-up specials every year around this time (i geeked out when jim mentioned a joke from “sean lock live!” at the show). it’d be nice to get other people into his stuff.

Female. I’ve been at Jimmy’s gigs and had people behind me that talked the whole way through. Why go? Or you get the ones that are blind drunk. I think modern comedians have had to get used to people behaving in all kinds of strange ways and just have to roll with it.
