Helen & Douglas House is an Oxfordshire charity that provides hospice care for local terminally ill babies and children, allowing their families to access to help, support and the chance to make some memories.
Their 2011 fundraiser (February 7th and 8th), called Childish Things 7, had “long-time hospice supporter Jimmy Carr” hosting both nights of the comedy and music festival. It was held at Oxford’s New Theatre and the “7” refers to this being the 7th year that it’s been held.

Hospice head of fundraising Jo Mitchell said:
“Having Jimmy Carr on board will help our organisers attract some of the best comedians, because having a personal invitation from him will carry a lot more weight.”
Which, from the stories that I’ve read, means that he got his phone out (he’s known to have the phone numbers of “everyone”) and nagged friends into joining in.

The show’s Co-Producer, Lizzie Pickering, said:
“This year we were a bit worried about clashing with Comic Relief, so we told Jimmy Carr we were making it every other year instead.
“But then he convinced us not only to hold the show every year, but to make it two nights as well.
“He opened up his address book and secured Michael McIntyre straight away, and is talking to other great headline acts too.”

- Miranda Hart
- James Corden
- Phil Selway (Radiohead drummer)
- Beardyman
