There are not many websites / channels / programme makers that let you see viewing figures on a per show basis – but I’ve found one that currently has data displayed for 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Parrot Analytics obviously have a product to sell and use viewing figures to report on which show would be successful in which market demographic.
What we can see below is that only 2.7% of all UK shows have this level of demand – which gives an idea of why C4 keep commissioning it. And, during Feb 2025, audience demand was 20.0 x the average UK show.
Looking at how it performs in Australia their 15.0x above average is slightly lower – but it’s still in the Outstanding category of 2.7% of all shows. Parrot Analytics note that it had previously peaked at 16.4 x the average show, over a rolling year average.
I wasn’t aware that the show was available in the US but this site indicates that it’s 10.3x market average there / Canada is 10.6x / Germany 9.9x / Japan 6.8x (putting it in the “good” range) / South Korea 2.1x (still within “good”) /
The show has what is called “travelability” across the UK, Aus and New Zealand.
The response to the people that claim “it’s not as good as it was” or “it’s the same old faces” – well, these numbers don’t lie – it’s clearly still selling well, around the globe.
Where is it shown?
There is an interesting Reddit thread about how International episodes are numbered and why (here).
An example that caught my interest recently – in Jan/Feb 2024 there were 4 episodes shown in Aus/NZ (under their International numbers) that had NOT been shown in the UK. They had actually been filmed between July 2022 and Aug 2023 and ended up as pirate copies on YouTube. They were finally shown by C4 in July/Aug 2024 and the 4th one was broadcast as late as 17-1-2025.
Channel4 do not tend to put full episodes on YouTube – but there are clips and best of videos in this playlist. Some of the international channels you can find it on:
- Australia – SBS or Freeview
- Canada – view via Britbox (not all episodes)
- Scandinavia – BBC Nordic
- US – same as Canada (Britbox)
