Chappelle in Aus 2023

Writing up Mr Carr’s tour details for Aus / NZ 2026 it got me thinking about the last time he was down under, in 2023 (Terribly Funny 2.0 tour).

Back then he’d done his usual thing of New Zealand in Jan and then moved to Aus for Feb (and later on Mar, Apr and May). His jet lag must be HORRENDOUS, flying back and forth so much.

It’s February that had the fun story and it’s probably worth mentioning here that most of us don’t appreciate quite what a big ol’ place it is. Many of the places he played were a couple of hours flight away (plus time spent travelling to and from airport / hotel etc.).

Feb 2nd and 3rd he’d done 2 shows a night in Brisbane and Gold Coast (and one Gold Coast show on the 4th). 6th was Wollongong, 7th Newcastle (no, not the toon), 9th and 10th Melbourne and 11th Adelaide.

According to G-maps Melbourne to Adelaide was a 1 hour 20 flight and anyone following his tour might not have noticed – but he bounced back to Melbourne again on the 12th. This time to be support for Dave Chappelle, at the Rod Laver Arena.

Chappelle’s gig on the 12th featured DJ Trauma, Donnell Rawlings and Jeff Ross and Jimmy – roasting the crowd.

Playtime over with, Jimmy had to be back in Canberra for his two shows on the 13th, and so another 1 hour 10 flight was in order. Meeting himself coming back.
