Countdown 2004

Did you know that Jimmy first appeared on Countdown as a guest in Dictionary Corner??

That is regular Countdown – I’ll explain for anyone that has no idea that there was a difference.

Countdown is a UK daytime TV show (still running) and Susie Dent is probably moulded into the furniture, she’s been the Lexicographer for so long.

The show Jimmy is known for is 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. This was a C4 “one off” show – created as part of a 2012 “mash up” series (celebrating 30 years of C4) where various shows were paired together to create something new. On Jan 2nd 2012 we had the broadcast of the already successful 8 Out of 10 Cats, mated with Countdown, and (in 2025) the hybrid is now up to series 27!!!

But Jimmy’s first link to Countdown was between Feb 23rd and 27th 2004 – when he made 5 appearances in Dictionary Corner.  Details of his guest episodes can be seen here.

The host was Richard Whiteley and the mathematician role was fulfilled by Carol Vorderman.
