Edinburgh 2014 was Jimmy’s 11th appearance at the Fringe, with his Funny Business tour. The Festival this year ran from August 1st to 25th and Jimmy was once again back at Venue 150 EICC (Lennox Auditorium).
This year he did 4 nights (Aug 15-16 and 22-23) with the 90-minute shows starting at 9.20pm and tickets being £18.50.
By this stage of his career the reviewers were not of a mind to write about him, focussing on the new acts and less successful comics. The Skinny did a slightly snarky review (complaining about a “witty one liner” comic doing a “wanton excess of one-liners”) but did give him 4 stars. Perhaps she thought he would be a magic act?
The show blurb said:
Jimmy Carr’s Funny Business will be: a) packed with jokes, b) rude and offensive*, c) a great night out, d) £18.50 a ticket**. If you answered (a), (b), (c), or (d), you were right!
*If you are easily offended, don’t be a dick about it.
**This show is not suitable for anyone who hasn’t bought a ticket.
Or this one:
Funny Business is Jimmy’s brand new stand-up show. Come for the witty and incisive musings on the human condition; stay for the knob gags.
Ice Bucket Challenge
At the gig on the 23rd he did the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge – see here.
