Friday Night with Jonathan Ross 2009

In 2009 Jimmy appeared on Friday night with Jonathan Ross for a 5th time (see other appearances here). Aired on November 6th this was Series 17 Episode 10 and featured Serena Williams and Jimmy’s mate, Robbie Williams.

Some of Robbie’s interview is summarised on Comedy.co.uk and the Paralympics / servicemen amputees joke that Jimmy referred to is explained in full here.

At the start of this clip there is a discussion about Jimmy’s weight loss and, in relation to that, it’s bizarre how many people mention in comments, in 2025, that he’s too thin and asking if he’s ill. I would guess he’s the same size now as he was in 2009. I suspect part of it is that everyone is so used to seeing overweight people around and about that anyone with a trim figure stands out.

Anyhoooo. I always love seeing these 2 bounce off each other.

* He said he had to stop this when everyone had a camera phone and wanted to get a “perfect selfie” pose. Instead of having a human interaction (a hand shake, kiss and a hello) it was just fiddling with a phone and posing. It was taking too long and he wasn’t enjoying it any more.

**He has said that he got fed up of the Daily Mail making stories out of his tweets (as they were back then) so he stopped engaging (on social platforms). Plus he’s got over 15m followers, across 6 platforms now – so it would be very time consuming.
