100 Worst Pop Records 2003

As I’ve mentioned in this post – between 2003 and 2005 Jimmy was often chosen to present C4 shows in the series “100 Greatest…”.  Viewers were asked to vote, in whichever category had been chosen, and the results were counted down in a clips show. Various “talking heads” were brought in to deliver a soundbite and add fuel to the fire of family arguments as to whether a clip deserved to be higher or lower in the chart.

But there were a couple of other shows, in this series, that were not in the “100 Greatest…” format. One of these was 100 Worst Pop Records.

As with the rest of the series this list was created from a C4 poll (in November 2003) and broadcast January 1st 2004. Once again Jimmy was the main presenter and additional narration was by Ann Bryson.

It’s odd that all the main promos said that it would be broadcast on New Year’s Day as it was first shown on December 24th 2003 (see British Newspaper Archives – here) and again on the 27th. I’ve changed this title to 2003, which goes against the narrative of all other entries for this show!

The songs HAD to have charted at number 75 (UK charts) or above and I’ve found a site where the full 100 is listed.

Some of these songs are pretty dire – but some are clearly just there because they were No 1 FOREVER (Whitney Houston – I Will Always Love You) and started to get on people’s nerves.

And, for anyone interested in any of the tracks, the actual show isn’t around (that I can find) but someone has built a playlist of most of the 100.
