By 2019 Jimmy had been to Montreal’s Just for Laughs (JFL) 15 times, but then 2020 lockdowns scuppered the festival, which has had money problems ever since.
The Comics Comic announced details of virtual gigs, with Jimmy taking part in a Conversations With Funny People broadcast, with Noel Fielding. The virtual room for these 2 had a link on to make a donation to the cancer charity that Jimmy had supported, Hope & Cope.
Jimmy/Noel’s chat was broadcast on October 10th 2020, live from 6-7pm EDT. As explained in The Montrealer there would be simultaneous comedy rooms, online, for visitors to hop around. BUT. All of the JFL content was taken down on Sunday October 11th at 11.59pm EDT – which seemed pretty hasty.
This means, technically, this was Jimmy’s 16th JFL attendance / appearance.
Jimmy / Noel’s session (they were on a video call from their homes, in England) was recorded sometime between September 27th and October 3rd 2020 – judging by comments Jimmy made about having gigs that week.
