Another in the 100 Greatest series was The 100 Greatest TV Treats of 2004 (IMDB). Shown on December 26th 2004 on C4 it was presented / narrated by Jimmy Carr. It was on from 9pm to 12.35am (180 minutes run time). This one only garnered 1.8m views.
The Irish Examiner lists some of the shows that made the cut and notes that the Number 1 spot was grabbed by the final episode of US show Friends.
Scotland’s Herald complained that the TV schedule was not dismantled, for everyone to watch news from the Boxing Day Tsunami. As this was 2004 would there really have been much to show when it had only probably happened hours before?
The Times is behind a paywall but apparently Peter Kay appeared on Coronation Street and that made the list at number 8 (also per the Daily Mail). The Mail details more of the moments – hard to believe that Janet Jackson on the Superbowl (nipplegate) was in 2004. As a “TV treat” it reached number 24.
