The Late Late Show with Pat Kenny ran from 1999 to 2009 on Ireland’s RTE ONE channel. Jimmy made his first appearance on September 8^th 2006.

Watching the video below I was confused by Jimmy mentioned the paedophile backstage (who had just been on) and thought he was making a joke.

There is a rant on this message board that explains that, before Jimmy’s chat, an actual convicted paedophile had been interviewed and viewers and the charity One In Four felt that the guy had been given an unchallenging interview. Reading that post from MilkTrolley (before watching the video) may be helpful to get a better grasp of how incredulous Jimmy is…and how PK seems to want to gloss over it and move along. Very bizarre.

He does seem to have an odd line of questioning. At one point he put up a picture of Jimmy and Karoline and said “To all intents and purposes you are a very happy couple” – which seemed a bit of a strange phrase to use. Bit insulting.

Jimmy was on his Gag Reflex tour (in 2006) and had rushed from a gig at the Olympia Theatre to this studio, for the interview. The audience there had double dared him to call PK “the plank” – so he did.
