Fitzy and Wippa is a Nova Syndney breakfast show starring Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald and Michael “Wippa” Wipfli.
August 25th 2022 Jimmy dialled in to promote his Terribly Funny 2.0 tour – 7 minute clip here (or you can play it on Amazon Music here).
Jimmy’s New Zealand tour was due to start January 7th 2023, before moving on to Australia.
Due to the time difference he has to link up with breakfast shows “down under” by phoning in from a car, often while driving home after a gig.
In this clip he tells a story about his mate, Russell Crowe, who is co-owner of a South Sydney National Rugby League Team, The Rabbitohs.
Taking Jimmy to a pre-season team talk he surprised him by asking him to say a few words – which was probably a mistake as Jimmy improvised with a speech about sportsmen that had become legends (Lance Armstrong, Mike Tyson, Oscar Pistorius).
This would have been during his last Australia tour which, due to lockdowns, was way back in 2018.
He also touches on not being able to keep up with Russell, when out drinking. And there’s some ribbing and a rebuttal regarding how bad a driver he was on Top Gear.
