Back in 2005 a rumour started in the press about Jim’ll Fix It being brought back on the BBC, with Jimmy Carr as host. First published in The Sun, allegedly, although search isn’t finding it now.
Firstly, if you don’t know what happened with Jimmy Savile, this BBC report could be a good place to start.
On October 18th Jimmy Carr’s Manager (Hannah Chambers) told Chortle: ‘Alas, it’s not true but very very funny.’
Unfortunately, things like this never quite go away and, on October 20th, the story was published again. This time by the Lancashire Telegraph.
So, no, just to be clear. No truth in the story. It never happened. Was never going to happen.
Fast forward to 2021 though and Jimmy was publicising his lockdown project (his Before and Laughter book). In one of the promo videos (here) he joked about what he had WANTED to call the book.
I think you can guess what one of the options was…
