We’ve Been Here Before was a BBC Radio 4 (R4) show that broadcast in 2003-4 (2 series, 9 episodes). Clive Anderson hosted and it apparently was a satirical panel show type set up – with panellists listening to news clips and having to figure out what the story was and how it might have a parallel with current events.
In 2024 the BBC (you know – that “none commercial” channel?) released the shows on Amazon Audible (here) for £7.87. Although that price may not be relevant as you read this.
It has also been broadcast MANY times, just out of interest, across R4 and R7 (see here) between 2008 and 2025.
S1 Ep1 was broadcast August 1st 2003 and featured:

- Jimmy Carr
- John O’Farrell
- David Quantick
Anyone who has seen Gyles on QI (I love the bloke) will know how he has a story for anything and everything so I can’t imagine him NOT doing well on this show.
The YouTube video, below, is a 10-minute preview of episode 1. Interesting to hear Clive say “…current Government, at time of recording, is led by Tony Blair”. Some might say we are back there again…
