February 28th 2019 and Comic Relief held their first ever Spectacular at the SSE Arena, Wembley (now called the Ovo Arena), capacity 12,500. The name is a bit random but it was, basically, a night of stand-up.
There are a number of variations of the promo images, showing different line-ups (one promo version is on the BCG website, here). There are no videos etc. available – but judging by backstage photos in books (by Rob Beckett etc.) the line-up was probably:
- Jimmy Carr
- Alan Carr
- John Bishop
- Russell Howard
- Rob Beckett
- Romesh Ranganathan
- Kerry Godliman
- Judi Love
- Lenny Henry
- Rosie Jones
Catherine Tate had been in early stories but had to pull out and was replaced by Russell.
This promo video on Facebook also said Katherine Ryan would appear, but I can’t confirm that (despite some effort).
Radio Times shows it as being a part of the BBC broadcast – but doesn’t say when or how much time it warranted – here.
