Triggernometry is a podcast hosted by Konstantin Kisin and Francis Foster. Recorded March 13th 2024 this was published on April 17th (YouTube) and they also then have an extra bit on Substack.

I’ve not watched this again, since it came out, so this is from memory.

Minor point first – some people in the comments mention the sacrilege of not using coasters on such a lovely table. I was also bothered by how DUSTY it is. You let a man in a lovely suit and shirt put his arms on that? I’m not someone that’s OCD about cleaning but it kept drawing my eye…

A heads up on some discussion that flared up after this was broadcast. Give you some points to contemplate, if you watch the video (or hunt down the audio version).

What really got people wound up was the bonus part, on Substack, where they were talking about immigration. It was felt that he was saying that the large number of economic migrants that the UK gets, crossing the Channel, was a GOOD thing. It didn’t help that a bit of that chat was used as a clickbait trailer.

These irate listeners missed the nuance of him saying that HE was part of a migrant family (from Ireland) and that KK and FF are immigrants too. When I listened what I had heard was someone trying to convey that LEGAL migrants are high agency people and that these people make London a vibrant city.

Whether that’s because I’d heard him talk about this stuff before – I don’t know.

People in the comments have said things like “it’s ok for him, living in a gated community”. Regardless of the security levels of his home he takes trains and the tube all the time (and who among us doesn’t take precautions? Says I, glancing up at my CCTV as my outside lights come on). He’s probably not heading into any “no go” areas – but then I wouldn’t either.

I think the problem is that KK / FF didn’t probe enough, to clarify the point, and he was on his 3rd or 4th podcast of the day. I suspect, when someone does multiple interviews like that, that they must get to a point where they THINK they have explained something properly – but it may have been in the previous one. If you’ve listened to lots of interviews/podcasts, when someone is on a promo round, you will have noticed how much they have to repeat themselves, all of the time.

Pretty much like my next paragraph – where I’ve listened to so many podcasts that the topics are all rolling into one…

Sooooooooo…I can’t remember whether he mentions it in this podcast – but he regularly brings up STEM qualifications and says we should be both encouraging our own people to do STEM degrees and also make it attractive for legal migrants (with STEM qualifications) to come here.

For anyone that hasn’t heard STEM before – it’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

I also seem to remember that the part at 34 minutes (Is comedy being censored?) was a point of slight disagreement between the 3 of them.

KK and FF have hinted in other shows that they know people that have been cancelled – but so does Jimmy. He’s said elsewhere that he counsels friends to not apologise, not engage with comments and just carry on. That part probably needed more fleshing out.

Apart from the dusty table, lack of coasters and a little bit of friction – it’s worth a listen.
