This is proving impossible to find more information on!
In 2005 (launching sometime in August) E4 started broadcasting from 6am:
- 6:00 Morning Glory
- 8:00 The All Star Wake Up Call
E4 was a “youth” channel so the rest of the morning schedule was all things like Hollyoaks, music and comedy. It was The All Star Wake Up Call that threw up a link to Jimmy.
While digging in the British Newspaper Archives I found a TV listing for December 25th 2005 that described that day’s show as:
Highlights of the comedians who have appeared on the show since its inception in August, including Jimmy Carr, Ben Miller, Rob Schneider, Gina Yashere and Al Murray
And that’s it…tried all kinds of searches (in both search engines and within the BNA) and this is the only entry I can find that mentions Jimmy being on the show, in this compilation. And it doesn’t give a clue as to whether the comedians were doing original material (for this show) or whether it was clips from other records.
During 2005-6 there are a number of newspaper archive sites that throw up TV listings for these 2 shows – no helpful details (but with a lot of links to Oasis stories, getting in my way).
I find E4 is usually particularly tricky to nail down. As a spin-off from its parent (C4) I always try to search for both and this one wasn’t helped by whatever automation the BNA uses (for its scanning) as many of the articles had picked up BBC4, from the listing directly above.
Welcome to my world…
