October 29th 1999 was a gig at The Unicorn, Bois Moor Road, Chesham, Buckinghamshire. There’s picture of it on PubWiki, showing that it’s now a children’s nursery. It says it “closed during the 1990s” (as a pub) – and there were only 2 months of the 1990s left, at the time of this gig.
Show started at 9pm and the “long suffering resident MC” was Ian McKenzie.
No mention of ticket price but the comedians on the bill were:
- Chris Hawkins
- Jimmy Carr
- Ian Stacey
- Richard Long
Background
At this stage in his career Jimmy was just performing above pubs and “going on stage after strippers” (his words) so there was no tour name at this point. Just driving up and down the UK, sometimes doing 2-3 venues a night, trying to get spots on open nights and hoping to get enough to cover his petrol money.
There is a new page (here) about the UK Comedy Circuit.
And another page (here) for The Year 1999. It lists everyone that I can confirm were on the circuit with him, plus which comics were on TV / Radio that year.
