February 23rd 2023 and Jimmy was on his Terribly Funny 2.0 tour of Australia and had an interview broadcast on Melbourne Friday Breakfast (ABC Radio Melbourne). The day before he’d been on The Weekly with Charlie Pickering (here) and then he did a radio interview.
I’m guessing he recorded both on the same day (early 22nd) as he had the same black shirt on and his Melbourne gigs were 17-21st (8 shows) and, by the evening of 22nd, he’d moved on to his gigs in Ballarat.
The full 17 minutes (audio only) is here – but there’s also a video clip on Instagram – here.
I noticed someone in the comments was distracted by him “picking something from his neck”. His radio mic is always on his right side so the logical guess would be that he’s possibly had it taped and found a rogue bit of glue…
A couple of interesting points, from the full-length show:
- Getting £200 for playing the weekend at The Comedy Store, London felt like success, like he could make a living from comedy.
- Some talk about the contents of Before and Laughter (here).
- Mention of touring 40 countries, now more like 50 (How Many Countries? – here)
- Surprising places for comedy being big – Norway and Denmark
