2024 and Jimmy was on his Terribly Funny 2.0 tour and performed his first ever gigs in India (see articles here and here).

  • Jan 19thNew Delhi, JLN Stadium, Weightlifting Auditorium
  • Jan 20th – 2 shows at Mahavir Kalidas, Natya Mandir in Mumbai
  • Jan 23rd – 2 shows in Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore) at Prestige Srihari Khoday Centre of Performing Arts

Cute pic of Woolly – here.

Not only was it Jimmy’s first Indian comedy gigs – I’ve had a hunt around and think that he may have been the first British comic to perform there.

Searches often reference Paul Chowdhry, but I can’t see any details of him ever touring there (just references to his heritage).

Trevor Noah (not a Brit, I know, bear with me) had been there in October 2023, but had had to cancel the Bengaluru show, due to technical difficulties with the sound (plus a 2 hour traffic jam – here).

Meanwhile, Brit Russell Howard followed his mate Jimmy and did gigs in February 2025.

After his final shows Jimmy said:

Thanks for coming to see live comedy India, I’ll be back. If you’re a comedian readying this, play India – it’s like Field of Dreams – book the gigs & they will come.

There seemingly are a few wrinkles to iron out before any further tours…

One fan at the New Delhi show said that the joke topics covered in the show were incredible as “it was the first time in 76 years of history, in this country, that has been done”.

However, It sounds like things like the traffic congestion, standard of venues and not being able to overcome technical issues on the night spoilt it for many fans.

Someone that was at the New Delhi gig said the sound was terrible and, despite asking staff, nothing was done. They said they had travelled 1000kms to see the show.

Another audience member at the New Delhi show said Jimmy was “an absolute banger” but only “for those who could enter the venue on / before time because of poor entry management”.

Unfortunately, Mumbai also had issues. The venue for the 7pm show (first of 2 that evening) still had shutters down at 7.20pm and everyone stood outside for 90+ minutes (someone else posted that the start time was 3 hours late!!). Late night for Mr C.

It appears that there was a school event going on, before Jimmy’s gig, and it had over ran and they also couldn’t clear the audience quickly enough, to get the next audience in.

Being fast on his feet Jimmy worked the delay into his act and also commented on the sound people – that were positioned right in front of him and chatting amongst themselves while he was trying to perform.
