Friday Night with Jonathan Ross 2008

In 2008 Jonathan Ross’s show (Friday Night with Jonathan Ross) was a flagship BBC programme…until he made a prank call with Russell Brand (on the radio).

The S15 episode on October 24th (see BCG here) was the last one before the BBC suspended Jonathan and removed the show from the listings for 3 months.

Just for background it was one of those things where most of the people complaining had never even heard the broadcast (pitchfork mob whipped up by the press), most of the outrage was seemingly because some of the public felt that he was overpaid and, having listened to it at the time, I felt JR seemed like he was trying to rein RB in (from what I remember). Regardless – the Producer / BBC should have interrupted the broadcast (IMHO).

The reason for mentioning this series at all is that some TV listings have Jimmy down as having appeared, as a guest, on November 7th 2008, alongside The Stylistics and Paul Bettany.

Obviously, this never got filmed – but the confusion stems from it having got as far as it being in the BBC Genome (a massive database of their TV and radio output) that lists a Radio Times sourced entry for it being shown on BBC1 London.

So, no, there was no 2008 appearance but you can see other episodes here and then, after JR moved to ITV, The Jonathan Ross Show – here.
