June 2015 and Jimmy was in New York City for a couple of days. This was deep into his Funny Business tour but he was also trying out some new material, reading jokes from a pad.
Gina Yashere is a British-Nigerian comedian that, in 2015, was still living and performing in America (she’s since left, after losing her home and possession in the 2025 LA wildfires).
On Wednesday the 10th she was hosting one of the 4 shows at The Comedy Cellar (here).
Jeffrey Gurian wrote about it on Interrobang and noted that Michael Che and Mike Birbiglia were also performing. Scroll down that link to see a photo of him with Jimmy.
He comments on how Jimmy was dressed and noted that he thought it was fun hearing the accents, when Jimmy and Gina were chatting and trading UK showbiz stories.
Jimmy had told Jeffrey that he was specifically there to perform at the Cellar but, on June 11th, he also performed at Village Underground (here) and, at some point during his whirlwind stay, he did a set at Gotham (here).
