The clip below is from the Mike Birbiglia podcast (Working It Out) in 2023 (here). Mike is an old friend of Jimmy’s (here).

The full podcast isn’t one of my favs as it seems to sometimes have had bits taken out (in the edit) and Mike isn’t a natural interviewer (IMHO).

Published December 11^th Jimmy mentions “drinking with a GOAT” the night before, but doesn’t name drop which one.

He’d spent a lot of time in the US, prior to this recording, and had performed 21 shows across Nov/Dec. So, a lot of scope as to the who and the where (that the drinking happened).

The drummer friend mentioned is probably Ronnie Vannucci Jnr. (The Killers). See the “infamous” 2009 Royal Albert Hall video (here) where Ronnie kisses Jimmy backstage and he turns to Karoline and jokes “it’s over”.

In this Short he’s talking about how he felt he’d got better at joke writing and how you have to try to improve your skills, year on year.
