There is a website, Scraps From The Loft (here), that contains transcripts of a lot of comedy specials.
On the one hand – comedy shows are not intended to be written down like this and seeing every Ummm and Errr doesn’t exactly enhance the experience. Watching specials on YouTube / Netflix etc. is how they were meant to be consumed.
On the other hand, if you are an aspiring comedian (or comedy writer) this could be a useful research resource.
If you’ve not got a copy of On Jokes yet (here) it is packed with joke samples, from over the years and all kinds of comics, that explain which components were used to form the joke.
It could be helpful to work through the book, while looking up how and where the jokes fitted into a show.
That’s your homework for the weekend!
