Whole doing some work on the Bio / Innovator section (here, Section 10) and the part about using a stopwatch sparked a memory of a different kind of watch story, from back in February 2014 (aged 42).
Jimmy was talking fashion with GQ Magazine (here) and slipped in a sweet comment about a gift from his baby brother, Patrick.
Nowadays he seems to have found another way of knowing how long he’s been on stage as he’s not been seen in the Casio for a while. And he’s got a nice watch.
But if you watch TV shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats, BFQ or Cats Countdown etc., from around the mid 2000’s, you’ll spot the £25 watch.
He told GQ:
I have a Casio watch. I believe it was £25. It was a gift from my younger brother Patrick and it has a vibrating alarm so I don’t have to look at it. When I’m on stage doing a show it vibrates after an hour – that’s when I know it’s time to have an interval. I think I would like to have a really nice watch but only after I finish doing stand-up because at the moment this is my work watch and I’m working.
Nice little throwback anecdote relating to how a working comedian manages the show.
