Lots of comedians do Corporate gigs and many of them are a format where the comic entertains a room full of people (with some stand-up) and then present awards. These award ceremonies can be anything from plumbers’ merchants to digital marketing agencies and they can be tricky to negotiate as the audience are not YOUR audience, so the jokes have to be chosen carefully.
Another type would be what you might describe as “motivational speaker” events – and Jimmy is very good at speaking at these (which is why he is hired so often).
In January 2025 Pendulum held a “Business & Leadership Summit” in Dublin and he was one of the speakers on the 2 day programme schedule, which also included people like Andre Agassi, Sugar Ray Leonard and Mary Portas.
The topics that Jimmy was scheduled to talk about included:
- Turning setbacks into strength: Jimmy reveals how he uses resilience to turn challenges into fuel for professional success
- Authentic influence: known for his unapologetically authentic style, Jimmy shares how staying true to yourself is a career advantage
- Mastering adaptability: from live shows to streaming platforms, Jimmy’s career exemplifies staying relevant in a rapidly evolving industry
After the summit the Irish Times ran a piece on what he said to Alan Shortt, who chatted with him on the stage.
There’s a short clip on YouTube of Jimmy and Sugar Ray Leonard doing a boxing photo op.
And, in this clip, he’s talking about serving your “24-hour future self”. The idea that what you do today would have an impact on you tomorrow.
Video below is a couple of minutes of Jimmy talking about society looking for an authentic voice and mentioning Joe Rogan’s part in the US election.
I’ve since found more images from this summit – see part 2 post here.
