Jimmy has been mates with Robbie Williams for some years and, while look for information on the 1 track that I knew Jimmy had collaborated on, I found that the two of them (plus Guy Chambers) have co-written 4 songs!
And I should perhaps say that when someone is giving a credit like this it’s hard to tell whether they just suggested a single line – or something more substantial. Still. It means that he can legitimately say he’s a songwriter.
2015 – Unknown
This X post, from Tim Metcalfe, in 2015 doesn’t mention a title and I cannot find any tracks credited to the 4 of them. Songs credited to Robbie Williams, Tim Metcalfe and Piers Baron appeared on Under The Radar.
2015 – Funk With Us
This track doesn’t seem to have been released yet.
Songwriters are listed (on RobbieWilliamslive.com and RobbieWilliamsDaily.org) as Robbie Williams, Guy Chambers and Jimmy Carr
2016 – When You Know
This track was released in 2016 on the deluxe edition of Robbie’s album The Heavy Entertainment Show (track 12 of the bonus tracks).
I think the most reliable source, to confirm this, is the UPMG (Universal Music Publishing Group) website. And Robbie posted on his Instagram account (on 26 Oct 2016) that the song was about Ayda and written with “my mate Jimmy Carr”
I’m assuming the brackets may perhaps denote that royalties are not due (?) – but this is only a guess. The songwriters are listed as: Chambers, Guy Antony; Williams, Robert Peter; (Keita, Seckou); (Carr, Jimmy)
2019 – Live in Las Vegas
This track is not listed on UPMG and it looks like it’s not made it to an album yet (although a studio version apparently exists). It would appear that, during 2019, Robbie gigged 15 times (March to July) and this track was his opening number.
Songwriters are listed as Williams, Carr, Chambers on the RW database site.
2022 – Disco Symphony
This track was released on the deluxe edition of the album XXV (track 24). It had originally been reported as a planned Robbie / Kylie duet (see Yahoo and The Sun) but the video below is Robbie singing alone.
Songwriters are listed on UPMG as: Williams, Robert Peter; Chambers, Guy Antony; (Carr, Jimmy) and this is corroborated by the information underneath the YouTube video.
Russell Howard Wonderbox Podcast
This podcast was recorded some time in Oct 2023 and the 2 old friends talk about how they consume music (Spotify v iTunes), buying vinyl, the changing music industry and how Jimmy wrote a song with Robbie. It’s not clear which of the above songs was being referred to.
