As mentioned on here the tour name Off The Telly was advertised as only being Oct-Dec 2005 and yet seemed to have been used over a wider timeframe (including at Edinburgh).
The 2005 Fringe was from August 7th to 29th.
Jimmy played the EICC (Edinburgh International Conference Centre) for 18 nights at 9pm (from the 18th to 21st and 25th to 28th). Tickets were £14 (£12 concessionary).
Written and performed by: Jimmy Carr
With some festivals there are opportunities to pair up with mates and do adhoc appearances at venues, but I’ve not seen any evidence of this being the case with Edinburgh.
Having said that – Jimmy is massively in love with comedy and is likely to have been there most of the festival, watching other acts and hanging out with comedians. I’ve not seen evidence of him leaving to perform gigs elsewhere in the UK.
This was the year that Jimmy also:
- went to see the Aristocrats movie
- attended the Edinburgh International Television Festival
The 2005 Edinburgh Fringe Programme can be viewed here. Below are some of the comedians that performed that year (in the order that I spotted their names in the programme). Where the actual show name was mentioned – it’s in brackets.
One thing that does strike you, looking through all the old tour names and imagery, is that it must be really hard to come up with an original name, for your show.
