Off The Telly was (allegedly) a relatively short tour towards the end of 2005. This Independent story (August 20th 2005) describes it as a 20 date UK tour that starts “next month” and had been the “hottest ticket” at that year’s Edinburgh Festival.
This Hillingdon Times listing muddies the waters as it shows him as performing OTT on 27th Jan 2005 at the Beck Theatre in Hayes.
It also looks like the Off The Telly routine may have been what was recorded for his Stand Up DVD – recorded between 22nd and 24th July 2005. In November the tour got a brief mention on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.
The previous tour had been called Public Display of Affection and 2005 gig listings and promo articles seem to interchange the 2 tour names, throughout 2005 and into 2006. Tickets from that period are not much help as they rarely seemed to have the tour name printed on.
Despite all of this ambiguity – I have a copy of an Off The Telly tour flyer which states “on tour Oct-Dec 2005”. Who knows?
2006 then drifted into the Gag Reflex tour.
