Montreal’s Just For Laughs (JFL) 2015 ran from July 8th to 28th and this year featured The Roastmasters Invitational. The post for the actual festival is here.
Unfortunately, I can only see the names of the comedians from the “blue” side of the “board” – which began with 8 comedians on each side. Spoiler alert here as this is a picture of the 2 finalists with Jeff (I wanted to show the board).
Katherine Ryan had been in the first round (of the red side) and was eliminated on the 22nd by Sarah Tiana (USA).
Held at L’Astral the competition ran from the 21st to 25th and was hosted by Brian Moses.

There’s a picture and a write up from Tom here and a throwback mention of the roast in this Guardian interview.
The Final
At the Final, on Saturday 25th, we had the winner from the Blue side (Jimmy) up against the winner from the Red side (Matthew Broussard, USA). The 2 of them are pictured in the Instagram image in the first para, above, and in a similar image on Facebook.
Judges
- Jeff Ross
- Dave Chappelle
- Jason Reitman
Apparently, Jimmy came on stage “wearing a black cloak, surrounded by candles – the anti-christ”.
Jimmy won the trophy (see picture here and below) and the Roast Battle account posted that it was “Payback for the American Revolution…”
