Canada’s Just For Laughs (JFL) festival 2018 was in Montreal, once again, and ran from July 11th to 29th. Earlier in 2018 the Just For Laughs Group had been purchased by ICM Partners and Howie Mandel.
Jimmy had already been in Canada in April / May touring Best of Ultimate Gold Greatest Hits.
On July 14th Jimmy had been in Berlin (with Michael McIntyre) for an FCTG corporate gig. He then flew to Montreal for his 14th JFL. A press release must have gone around with an error in it as sites such as Chortle reported this was his 13th (which was actually 2017).
Daily Hive noted that Jimmy had already stopped off in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Canada. I would add to that Australia (Jan), Ireland and Japan. And then, after JFL, Singapore, South Africa, Estonia, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, USA, Malta – and all of his usual UK haunts. That was just 2018.
Montreal 690 Radio, 19th
This radio show (11 minute interview) says “from London” and he was phoning in and still in the UK at this point (in a car outside Buckingham Palace).
Ultimate Gold, 21st to 29th
Jimmy performed 9 times at Le Gesù with his Best of Ultimate Gold Greatest Hits show. Mobtreal have a review of Jimmy’s show (and also Neal Brennans). And CJLO.com has another.
The Gazette asked “Is political correctness killing comedy?” and rounds up some of the comics that have had joke issues. The writer bemoans the toning down of The Nasty Show and says even Jimmy’s show doesn’t have the same shock value (but admits it may be because the audience has probably heard these jokes before).
Kill Tony, 25th
This year Kill Tony was being recorded at JFL and Jimmy appeared (episode #280).
Jim and Sam show, 27th
Jim Norton and Sam Roberts podcast, SiriusXM. This really wasn’t a great podcast…it’s on YouTube but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Is that it?
Unlike previous years I was unable to find more appearances. In the Montreal 690 interview, above, he talked about how he expected to drop in to shows like Midnight Surprise – but nothing that I could track down.
