The UK’s version of the Oscar’s is the BAFTAs (British Academy Film Awards) and the 2015 BBC show was broadcast from the Royal Opera House. Stephen Fry was the host for a 10th time and winners can be seen here.
Surrounding the awards are a number of industry get togethers.
On February 2nd there was a “best of British Talent pre-BAFTA party” at The Ace Hotel (now re-opened as One Hundred Shoreditch). Officially referred to as the “InStyle and EE Rising Star Party in association with Lancome, Karen Millen and Sky Living” – very catchy. Jimmy attended with Jonathan Ross (Getty Images here) and why they were both so casual I’m not sure – but they were not the only ones (here). It was February in London and, if you are someone that works in TV (as they both do), then I would imagine networking at events like this are just a part of the job.
Before the children came along Jimmy and Karoline were invited to lots of events like this and February 7th was the pre-BAFTA VIP brunch at the Chiltern Firehouse. Alamy images of their arrival here and other attendees can be seen here.
As an example of how packed Jimmy’s diary is – he was on his Funny Business tour at the time and the evening of the 7th was a gig in Aylesbury.
Just as a side note – the Chiltern Firehouse was a Victorian Fire Station (1899) that was converted to a Hotel and restaurant in 2013 and very popular with celebrities. There was a devastating fire in February 2025 (wood falling from a pizza oven) and this BBC article suggests it could be “years” before it re-opens.
Finally, on February 8th, we had the awards ceremony itself and then Rosewood London was the venue for the “Weinstein Company BAFTA After Party Hosted By GREY GOOSE And Jimmy Choo” – love these snappy titles!

Images featuring the other guests, here, reveal that, amongst all the film people, were some rock stars – including Noel Gallagher and Kasabian’s Sergio Pizzorno. Finally, someone that I didn’t expect to see there was Dave Chappelle.
