Childish Things3, at Oxford’s New Theatre, was the 3rd fundraising event for Helen and Douglas House (a hospice for terminally ill babies and children – read more here). It was held on March 4th 2007 and featured:
- Stephen Fry
- Harry Enfield
- Jimmy Carr
- Jeremy Clarkson
- Rory McGrath
- Alan Davies
This article mentions that John Lloyd (inventor of the show QI) runs a “QI bookshop and restaurant in Turl Street” and was hoping to assemble some stars to perform a stage version of the show.
In this 2014 article the co-producer of the event listed a favourite memory as being:
“a live QI featuring Jimmy Carr, Stephen Fry, Alan Davies and Jeremy Clarkson”
In this “10 years of Childish Things” gallery there is a picture of Jimmy sitting beside Jeremy, so this clearly happened in 2007.
After the event the Oxford Mail reported that the theatre had hosted 1,800 punters and raised £35,000 for the hospices. Oddly missing Jeremy’s name from the performer listing.
This was Jimmy’s first show, for the charity, and he apparently immediately asked if he could be involved in the 2008 event and blocked his diary out.
