Well, that Harry/Kanye joke is making some headlines, August 10th 2025 (view it here).
Prepare to be outraged!!! There’s a wave of controversy!!
As the MSM get more and more desperate for things to write about they are deploying ye olde clickbait technique to drum up business.
First up was the good old Daily Mail (they really don’t like Jimmy). They reported this story ok but then padded it out by talking about how much he had earned up to September 2024 (regurgitating someone else’s story) – and made a bit of a dog’s breakfast of that part.
- They mention that he hosts Battle In The Box (officially rested – although at least it was filmed within that timeframe)
- They mention that he hosts Last One Laughing – it was filmed / released AFTER the business accounts were submitted, so not relevant
- They don’t mention Cats Countdown hosting, which would be been more appropriate
- They mention his 2026 Aus tour – which is nothing to do with past earnings
- They’ve taken the earnings income and divided it to come up with a weekly earnings rate…that’s not how things work, but anyhoo.
They also then bring up his estrangement from his father, tax issues from 2012 and then cycle back to Harry and Kanye.
Might as well remind your readers of someone’s past perceived misdemeanours, while you can.
Today we have the story repeated by The News (Pakistan) and Marca (Madrid, Spain) and the The Express US (on the 11th). Dan Wootton has made a video.
So, it’s reaching far and wide.
These stories:
- Refer to “comments” – there were no “comments” – a joke was told in response to a heckle.
- The News says there is a backlash…which basically means the proverbial “3 people on X” (probably members of the Sussex squad or Kanye fans). It didn’t even trend (not from what I saw). Even the DM has only garnered 100 comments in 24 hours – normally you get 100s on there of the type of “he’s never been funny”. So, not that much of a backlash.
- They also go on to report on his 2024 accounts and “weekly earnings” (relevancy?).
It really is tiresome, with all that is going on in the world, that a bit of squabbling on X becomes such a huge story, in the case of the Mail, that has been spun out to 1,566 words.
And I’ve added a little over 400 words here…
Still, his Australian tour got a free plug – so not all bad.
And, in just a couple of days, the video has got some good viewing numbers.
