UK Comics: Most Subbed on YouTube

It’s official – Jimmy is the most subscribed UK comedian on YouTube.

Last month (here) I noted that Jimmy had surpassed 1.5m subscribers on his YouTube channel, something that has been picked up now by various sites that look at viewing trends. I hadn’t intended looking at the stats for another month – but, what the heck.

Drop Media reported a couple of days ago that Banijay Rights (the company that took over Jimmy’s YouTube channel in 2023) had claimed he has the most subscribed channel (of UK comedians). I could have told them that! A very similar article was then published in ATV Today.

Back on 1st August I’d looked at YouTube usage (US and UK comedians) and, at that point, Jimmy’s 2 YouTube channels had totalled 1.51m (see here).

Today (13th September 2025) he has 3 channels (Jimmy Carr TV launched on July 25th) and the subs are:

Total 1,577,250

What Jimmy’s done is to spot the trend of viewing habits moving to YouTube. This is why, a couple of years ago, he engaged Banijay and started filming his shows for the Heckle Amnesty series of videos.

Back in April 2023 he’d posted 470 videos and today that total stands at 1,985. That’s a LOT of content he’s giving away and, by June 2024, his subscriber numbers had hit 1 million. When you consider that this content is also being published across other social platforms, that’s a great way of advertising yourself as a comedian.

The hardest working man in comedy…and a VERY astute businessman.

1st August Statistics Comparison

I should perhaps first say that Ricky Gervais has a channel with 657,000 subs that I’d stopped including in my reporting. It only has 103 videos (as of 13-9-2025) and they had been uploaded between 3 and 18 years ago. There was 1 new video a year ago – but, regardless, it’s mostly focussed on Derek and After Life and so not really a stand-up comedy channel.

Back on August 1st the Top 5 UK comedians had channel subs of:

  • Jimmy Carr – 1.51m
  • Russell Howard – 1.48m
  • Jack Whitehall – 1.31m
  • Sarah Millican – 585k
  • Peter Kay – 296k

It’s been a little over 40 days – have they collected new subs?

  • Russell and Jack – no change
  • Sarah + 6,000
  • Peter + 12,000
  • Jimmy + 67,250
