Following on from the post about 8oo10c Series 16 (8oo10c).

C4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats series 17 started February 17th 2014 and ran through to April 14th 2014, with a Highlights / Best Bits episode on August 13th 2014. Plus, an additional Highlights special titled “Jimmy, Sean & Jon’s Best Bits” on August 20th 2014.

For all shows Jimmy Carr is the host and Team Captains are Sean Lock and Jon Richardson.

The Season 17 playlist is here. However, this appears to be a mix of S11 and S12 shows and, tacked on the end, S17 Ep1. I’ve also checked the Banijay and 8oo10c channels and S17 is not represented on there either.

Within Jimmy’s channel the S17 clips are:

  • S17 Ep1 – here
  • Every available S17 episode (3 hours 40) – here

I’ve not checked that 2nd link (not enough time) but it’s hard to tell how many episodes are in there as “every available” means, sometimes, someone on the show doesn’t give clearance for an episode to be published.

Shows tend to be 45 minutes long and even if that file were just the 9 main episodes – that would total 4 hours 40.

Challenging W*nk

In the January 2019 episode of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Sean used the phrase “challenging w*nk” in relation to Rachel Riley in a beard and Viking helmet (see here). Which kind of went down in comedy folklore.

This may seem pedantic (unfortunately, I like facts and accuracy) – but the phrase was actually first said (so far as I know) 5 years earlier, by Jimmy, in March 2014.

In 8 Out of 10 Cats S17 Ep5 Krishan Guru-Murthy (on Sean’s team) was talking about having his P60 stored in his iCloud. Prompting Jimmy to declare it a challenging w*nk”.

Panellists were:

  • Ep1 – Joe Wilkinson, Dawn O’Porter, Rob Beckett, Paul Hollywood
  • Ep2 – David O’Doherty, Steve Jones, Deborah Meaden, Seann Walsh
  • Ep3 – Jack Dee, Jerry Springer, Example, Roisin Conaty
  • Ep4 – Kym Marsh, Aisling Bea, Mel Giedroyc, Johnny Vegas
  • Ep5 – James Acaster, Jo Brand, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Ronan Keating
  • Ep6 – Lethal Bizzle, Joe Wilkinson, Dr Christian Jessen, Aisling Bea
  • Ep7 – Carol Vorderman, Henning Wehn, Fern Brady, Phil Spencer
  • Ep8 – Spencer Matthews, Katherine Ryan, Alec Jones, Josh Widdicombe
  • Ep9 – Henning Wehn, Alex Brooker, Kate Humble, Rob Beckett
  • Highlights / Best Bits
  • Jimmy, Sean & Jon’s Best Bits

The writing team, for series 17, included:

  • Jimmy Carr (all episodes, all series)
  • Matt Forde
  • Gary Delaney

Note that I’m just pulling out the names of people that went on to be known more for TV / Stand-up and/or Production. The rest of the writers, on series 17, are talented people that write for a living (for many shows) but are not well known (as in not public figures).

The series list – here – lets you select posts from a list grouped by Team Captains, Year etc.
