Heckle Amnesty launch 2024 06

This is about Jimmy’s social media project, that posts crowd work clips under the name of Heckle Amnesty.

In the 2025 Joseph Szeps podcast (here) Jimmy talked about how he’d started filming his crowd work after watching material that Matt Rife and Andrew Schulz had posted on YouTube / TikTok.

He told how he’s hired a great videographer and that he was surprised at how much original material he generates, just from messing around with the audience. This outlet is a great way of promoting himself without having to burn the material from the show. After all, why would you buy a ticket if you’ve already seen the routine?

Although he will have written 200+ one-liner jokes for the routine he likes to have a “playful space”, where he encourages the crowd to join in.

In the UK we’ve always referred to it as heckling – but other parts of the world label it Crowd Work, Audience Work or even Working the Room.

From his perspective the show is the same every night, sometimes twice a night, for the duration of the tour. Using the example of the Laughs Funny material – the WIP gigs started February 2024 and it’s currently scheduled out to December 2026. Most people don’t realise that stand-ups, like actors, are repeating the same lines every night and, in Jimmy’s case, that means repeating his show 100s of times a year.

As he’s said in the past – having a 15–20-minute break in the middle, where he encourages the crowd to “have at it”, keeps it interesting for him. He’s no idea what’s going to get shouted out and sometimes the heckler “wins one” and gets applause from the master himself.

Audience Plants

There is a post here laying out the evidence for why he does NOT use audience plants.

Where are they published?

There appear to be 2 Video Playlists (on Jimmy’s main YouTube channel) and there may be overlap between them.

As well as all of the YouTube locations, below, they are also published on Jimmy’s Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok and Threads accounts. This gives him a MASSIVE audience reach, possibly bigger than that of Netflix specials.

Heckle Amnesty Launch 2024

Below is the first video, from the Heckle Amnesty series (The Sacred and Profane).

It was first posted on June 19th 2024 on Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok. And then this YouTube version came out on the 27th.

This means that, to date, all of the material is from the Laughs Funny tour, wherever the show was in the world.

What followed, in the remainder of June, was:

  • Jimmy vs the General Election – here
  • Jimmy wishes a mother and daughter happy birthday – here
  • Jimmy shared his thoughts on Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak – here
  • Does Jimmy wear a suit on his day off? – here
  • Jimmy’s opinion on Weston-Super-Mare – here

Plus, a couple of compilations, featuring the above, were published on Facebook and YouTube.

This was the start of the King of the Witty Comeback releasing several videos a week of either Shorts, Videos or longer Compilations. You can find the YouTube Playlist here.

The viewing figures per video vary (depending on the platform and popularity of the exchange). But, as an example, this TikTok video of “why do you laugh backwards” had had over 22.9m views (as of 13th March 2025). The popularity of these clips means he is the first British comic to pass 1 billion views (see on the Stats page).

At this point, in 2026, there have been clips from 100s of shows and everyone around the world can watch the “thing that only happened on that night”. FOC.

How great is that?
