July 2007 was Jimmy’s 4th Just For Laughs (JFL) in Montreal (here). RTÉ2 is a free Irish channel and it gave a fair amount of airtime to the festival, mostly featuring Jimmy, albeit a couple of months late. I’ve checked earlier months and nothing came up (although it could just be that the papers haven’t been scanned yet).
Ed Byrne had apparently acted as their JFL roving reporter but Neil Delamere took over from 2006.
JFL ran from July 12th to 22nd and the programming included the below. It’s not clear whether any of these are duplicates of each other, although the programme reference numbers are different (in the TV listing). Hard to tell.
Neil Delamere’s Just for Laughs
September 1st and 7th, 11.40pm, 30 minutes
Stand-up showcase, hosted by Neil Delamere featuring:
- John Cleese
- Fred MacAulay
- Mike Britt
- Stewart Lee
- Jimmy Carr
Just For Laughs
September 15th, 10.30pm, 30 minutes
With Jimmy Carr and Andrew Stanley
Just For Laughs
September 17th, 10.30pm, 30 minutes
Stand-up showcase from the 25th annual Montreal comedy festival, beginning with Jimmy Carr.
Note – this one may be the same as the one on the 15th. A second press clipping says Neil Delamere was a roving reporter, talking to Andrew Stanley and “the lugubrious Jimmy Carr”.
Just For Laughs
September 24th, 10.30pm, 30 minutes
Note – this one is confusing as Dublin’s Evening Herald had a couple of descriptive lines (under a heading Comedy Matters) that said:
With Jimmy Carr, admittedly something of an acquired taste, as the big-name offering. Worth watching if only to see the different styles of those who make money by making us laugh.
But then the actual TV listing, over the page, says “Neil Delamere introduces stand-up sets from Adam Hills and Al Madrigal”.
