January 2025 and Russell Howard was on the Have a Word Podcast (#310). An old mate of Jimmy’s they had first met (so far as I can tell) in 1999 at the Gilded Balloon in Edinburgh (see here).
In 2024 Russell had become a first-time dad (at 44) and the lead in to his Jimmy story was him wishing there had been a nappy invented that meant he didn’t have to pick up his son for a sniff test (to see if he’d pooped).
Adam seems incredulous that he would have to stop eating to do this and a debate started.
At around 2 hours 23 this leads into Russell telling a story about being out with his dog and, because it was having kidney problems, he had to bend over to inspect the output. A bloke passing on a bike had “zinged” him and this led on to him recalling how he’d told Jimmy that he had a routine that he was struggling with.
He’d ran out of pooh bags and the only thing he had to pick up the mess was a £20 note. Expanding on the optics of a “famous person” potentially being seen, using a £20 note to pick up dog poop.
I’ll let you watch the video to check out what Jimmy suggested and hear the full story for yourself.
