Grange Tavern 1999

One of the pubs that Jimmy performed at, in 1999, was The Grange Tavern Warwick Road, Ealing, W5 3XH. A gorgeous Victorian building, built in 1871, it’s still there as a pub / restaurant / event venue (see here).

The Hounslow and Richmond Chronicle had a listing for this gig:

December 12th 1999, Sunday

Laughing Club presents:

  • Paul Rogan
  • Justin Rozenholtz
  • Jimmy Carr
  • Steve Morrison
  • Alfie Joey

Show start time was 8.15pm and entrance £5. Not a lot of money to be shared between the venue, promoter and 5 comedians!

Who else was on that weekend?

Background

At this stage in his career Jimmy was just performing above pubs and “going on stage after strippers” (his words) so there was no tour name at this point. Just driving up and down the UK, sometimes doing 2-3 venues a night, trying to get spots on open nights and hoping to get enough to cover his petrol money.

There is a new page (here) about the UK Comedy Circuit.
