After losing both her parents and sister Emily Dean wrote a book called “Everybody Died, So I Got a Dog” (here). She co-hosts a podcast with Frank Skinner and has had her own podcast for many years called Walking The Dog with Emily Dean.
On Sunday August 6th 2017 she recorded a walk with Jimmy and his Yorkshire Terrier, Marnie, who he’d recently adopted from Blue Cross.
I’ve pinpointed that walk / record date from the mention of him having a gig in Woking that night (Best of Ultimate Gold Greatest Hits Tour) and it being a Sunday. There had been a Woking gig earlier that year (also Sunday, April 30th) but the clincher (for it being August 6th) was that he mentions that he’s just back from a comedy fest where he’d been chatting with Jim Carrey. This was Just For Laughs 2017 (here).

In case I sound less than enthusiastic I’ll say up front that I’m not a fan of these walk and talk type podcasts. This one isn’t too bad but they’re talking about a great view, saying hello to other dog walkers and describing dogs that the listener can’t see. Frustrating.
Emily has been a friend of Jimmy’s for some years and drops into the chat that she was at the Hawking party (at his house – see other posts) that seems to have had everyone there. Plus, she invites herself in for a cup of tea when they return to Jimmy’s place.
He’d left his 2 English Toy Terriers at home (Taxi and Mackey) as he says they are both crazy. On the 2025 Jack Dee / Seann Walsh Oh My Dog podcast he’d mentioned losing Mackey in 2023 (episode here).
