Paul Chowdhry podcast #2 2026

Paul has a new podcast (or pudcast, as he calls it) and this is another episode that got my attention (see the earlier one, with Hal Cruttenden, here).

Below Paul is chatting to Shappi (Shaparak) Khorsandi and they briefly mention a gig that they did with Jimmy, early in all of their careers (around the video’s 3-minute mark).

As with the earlier post I’ve tried to locate the gig details but (so far) have failed. As Jimmy started his comedy career in late 1998, I’m assuming the gig mentioned would have been 1999 at the earliest.

The 3 of them were performing at Tufnell Park Tavern (here) but there are 3 issues with looking for these very early gigs: (1) they didn’t always get written about (who knew that they were going to go on to have long careers?) and (2) if they did, their names may not be spelt correctly and then there’s (3) the AI problem. Where search engines insist on giving you an AI answer and throttle back the links that you really want.

The spelling issue, btw, wasn’t just an issue for people with unusual names as, for example, Micky Flanagan is frequently called Mickey (to the extent where, because I’ve seen it so many times, I sometimes double check myself).

Paul started comedy in 1998 and Shappi in 1997 and both appeared in the same venues as Jimmy on the UK Comedy Circuit (here).

My other posts about Paul are here and Shappi here.
