Another venue to add to my UK Comedy Circuit info.
Leeds has a live music and comedy venue called The Wardrobe (here), 6 St Peter’s Square, Leeds, LS9 8AH. It opened in 1999 (image here), has a capacity of 500 and is still hosting comedy shows now.
Sunday February 27th 2000 saw Jimmy perform there as part of an evening put on by Pam & Janet Comedy Club. The mists of time have swallowed up who on earth Pam & Janet were.
Starting at 8.45pm the ticket prices were £5, £6 and £7 (no explanation as to why there were 3 prices) and the line-up was:
- Andy Robinson
- Jimmy Carr
- Martin Davies
Background
At this stage of his career Jimmy had been performing above pubs and “going on stage after strippers” (his words) so there was no tour name.
He was now starting to get more regular bookings and was appearing more in dedicated comedy clubs and slightly bigger rooms.
