Bearing in mind online “discussions”, shall we say, about places that Jimmy is happy to perform – I thought I’d single out a question asked at the Zurich show on June 17^th.

At 4.59 he speaks for about a minute, after being asked “is there any country you wouldn’t go to play”.

I’ll transcribe most of what he says…I’ve just cut it down a little:

If they’ll have me – I would go anywhere. It’s a foot in the door, isn’t it. The shortest distance between 2 people is laughter – you’re connecting with other people

He then goes on to explain how the Overton Window works (it is a political model, that shifts back and forth over time, and references what is an acceptable topic to the majority of the population).

He suggests that a societal Overton Window is expanded by comedy and goes on to say:

People were more uptight about sex and politics and life before they started watching stand-up comedy. You watch me talk about this crazy sh*t and you have a more open, honest, fun conversation after the show. The benefits last a few days… You kind of take stuff a bit lightly

And then says:

I’d go to f**king North Korea. ‘Cos God knows they f**king need it, right

Apart from liking that approach I loved the little nugget he dropped in at the end, in relation to Kim Jong Un.

I don’t know if you were aware – but he was educated here…sooooooo

Every day is a school day when you are at one of his comedy shows.
