Just for Laughs 2006 (aka Just pour rire or JFL – see other mentions under this filter) ran from July 7th to 23rd. On the 8th it looks like Jimmy appeared at Newbury’s Corn Exchange – so his JFL appearances will have been sometime between the 9th and 23rd. He missed going in 2004 and 2005 so JFL 2006 was his 3rd appearance (so far as I can tell).
This year has proven particularly tricky to get specific dates for but there was The Comedy Showdown on the 19th July. Shecky described this as “American Idol meets Last Comic Standing meets 8 Mile”.
8 comics, paired up on stage, went through 3 rounds of 3-minute sets. But not sets of their choice – they were given a topic. Chortle hated it but this sounds like something like a Mock the Week round to me (where comedians are given topics to riff on).
Judges were Dom Irrera, Andy Kindler and Jimmy Carr. These 6 were the entrants and Andy Parsons won.

The festival attendees below were mentioned in posts by such as Variety.com and Chortle. Names with a * were predicted to be appearing in the Britcom showcase and anyone performing a named show has it indicated in brackets. I’ve highlighted D.L. and Provenza as they are Americans that Jimmy went on to work with many years later (the Brit artists that he appears on UK panel shows with most people will recognise).
