Edinburgh 2006, Gag Reflex

The 2006 Fringe (Jimmy’s 6th as a solo artist) was from August 6th to 28th and, this year, Jimmy took his Gag Reflex tour there.

He played 6 nights at the EICC (Edinburgh International Conference Centre) on the 17th-19th and 24th-26th. His shows started at 9.30pm and were advertised as being 1 hour and 10 minutes. Tickets £14 with concessions at £12.

The fire alarm went off at one of the shows and the joke he made, during evacuation, made it into the Oxford Dictionary of Modern Quotations (see here).

Written and performed by: Jimmy Carr

Jimmy’s ad says:

One of comedy’s biggest faces (in every sense) and star of 8/19 cats returns to Edinburgh to do what he does best live onstage. No under-16s unless they have an ASBO, in which case f**k it.

In July he’d been performing gigs on his tour Off The Telly but, by August 5th, was booking WIP gigs (Work in Progress) at the 50-ish seater Hen and Chickens Theatre (Gag Reflex material try-outs).

In a reference back to Comedy Idol (on Jimmy’s 2005 Stand Up DVD) we have an ad for Doktor Cocacolamcdonalds Explains All! With the tag “As seen singing in his underpants on Jimmy Carr’s latest DVD!”.

On the 27th August Jimmy dropped in on the Edinburgh International Television Festival and also the Edinburgh International Book Festival. Both of these events were on the EICC campus.
