Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend

Jimmy appeared on the second episode of Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend last night (May 23rd) on BBC1. Filmed 19th / 20th October 2024.

Jimmy does his Bond audition (Lidl Bond, he says) by “driving” a small motorboat on Lake Windermere, they walk up Queen Adelaide Hill and sit chatting on a bench – before heading off to the venue for Jimmy to perform in Kendal’s Westmoreland Hall. It’s only a 700-seater but, as he explains, people in more remote areas cannot always travel to bigger venues – so he goes to his audience.

Day 2 (in London) they go for a sauna / ice plunge and then end up going for food.

There are some nice stills in this Daily Mail write up (a surprisingly pleasant one, from the DM). Although they couldn’t resist the clickbait headline of “Jimmy Carr Makes heartbreaking admission about his mental health….” which didn’t relate at all to the story of him being a “bit depressed” in his mid-20s. Explaining that that was why he’d decided to be a comedian.

Unfortunately, a headline like that brings out the muppets who don’t actually read the article – just react to the headline with “another celebrity playing the mental health card. And I was just starting to thaw out, a smidgeon, towards the DM…
