Social Account Totals

Update 5-8-2025 – these is a more recent post with refreshed data – here.

Under the Statistics tag there are posts relating total Followers / Subscribers on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. This post is the sum of ALL of those account totals – plus X. I’ve not collected a full dataset on X before (just for a handful of comics) so there isn’t a post showing loss / growth.

While these figures are a fun indication of popularity – there is no way of telling whether 1 follower exists on multiple platforms or how many followers may be dead accounts. But this would affect everyone that I’ve looked at – so just take it that I AM aware. Lies, damn lies and statistics…as they say.

The nerd in me just finds it interesting that some comics have appeared on panel shows for years and yet are only playing 200 seat rooms. Not that there’s anything wrong with that – but there’s sometimes a perception gap, relating to how successful someone is.

I’ve looked across the bigger “legacy” platforms – but please note that some comedians have expanded into others, especially the Americans. Examples seen:

  • BlueSky Social
  • Discord
  • LinkedIn
  • Mastodon
  • Only Fans
  • Patreon
  • PunchUp.Live
  • Snapchat
  • Spotify, Apple etc. etc.
  • Threads
  • Tumblr
  • Vimeo

If I’ve failed to find an official account for someone and you know the URL – please add to the comments below and I’ll update next time. Of course some comedians choose to find other outlets for promoting themselves – everyone will have their own ideas of how to connect with their audience.

In the below I’m using the descriptor X-Twitter because it’s impossible to search for an X on its own.

A few things to note first:

  • With all that has gone on re Trump / Elon it’s been noticeable that X-Twitter account totals (for comedians) are dropping, pretty much across the board. While people have left for platforms such as BlueSky – this is not reflected in total followers as most comics are not bothering to have accounts on there. A few (e.g. Russell Howard) appear to have grabbed their account name, but posted nothing.
  • Performance Location is used, rather than nationality, so that we can see the difference between comics that are from / based in the US and those that are from / based in the UK. And the column says Brit just because it stands out better than if you had to view US / UK. Don’t get tribal on me – it’s just for filtering.
  • As with the other posts on statistics – note that the US based comics have massive numbers, so I tend to split them apart from the Brit based peeps.
  • Obviously different comedians appeal to different demographics and so the platforms they use will be wherever their fanbase is. With Jimmy, for example, his YouTube subs are growing, week 2 week, but Facebook, Instagram and TikTok are growing faster.
  • All stats are publicly visible – any numbers that are down to single digits have probably come from somewhere like BoomSocial (but not everyone is visible on there, unfortunately).
  • I’m posting this on June 1st 2025 – so all of these numbers will have changed by now!

US based comics

This image shows everyone that has a combined total of over 10m subs/followers. Two people don’t use YouTube (Kevin Hart and Chris Rock) and Joe Rogan is not on TikTok. Kevin Hart’s total is mind blowing.

The blue shading indicates who was Top 3, on each platform.

If we remove X (because I didn’t have the totals in Feb) and look at who has incremented the most subs/followers (since Feb 2025). Just the ones that are 200k+

British based comics

Much smaller numbers and we have Ricky Gervais not using TikTok, Frankie Boyle not on YouTube and Alan Carr not on X-Twitter.

The gold shading indicates who was Top 3, on each platform.

If we remove X (because I didn’t have the totals in Feb) and look at who has incremented the most subs/followers (since Feb 2025). Just the ones that are 80k+

This shows up how Jimmy posting the Heckle Amnesty series videos has been worthwhile. Over 1.1m of growth in 112 days.

Michael McIntyre’s increase has mainly come from Facebook.

Finally.

Just pulling out the 5 UK based comics that were making the Top 3 slots I’ve added in BlueSky Social, Threads and Jimmy’s 2nd YouTube account (More Jimmy Carr) – for another take on the totals.
