In 2003 (November 9^th) Jimmy performed at Elmwood Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Which is actually not so much a hall as an ex-Presbyterian church – see the website, here.

Presumably the performance was in the Theatre style layout, with a capacity of just under 500. Tickets were £12 or £9 concessionary and the tour, which had been launched at the Edinburgh Fringe, was Charm Offensive.

The ad was placed by Jimmy’s management who, at that time, were called Comedy Café Management. There’s a video featuring Jimmy at The Comedy Café in this post.

What caught my eye and amused me was the description of:

A gentleman with a dirty mind and a provocateur who satisfies, Jimmy delights audiences worldwide.

Crikey! What exactly was he doing?

At that stage of his career the “worldwide” part was stretching it a bit – but he HAD made several trips across the pond. For example – he’d performed at Aspen Comedy Festival (here) and Montreal’s Just For Laughs (here). As well appearing on Conan O’Brien (here) and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (here).

The ad also listed his awards (to that point) and his presenting of Your Face or Mine (plus some other TV appearances).

Finishing with a flourish it declared:
